Val Lodholm Manager,
BroadwayVeterinaryHospitalFor the past 12 years I have been managing
BroadwayVeterinaryHospital. This became a full time job in 1997 when I retired from teaching. I started teaching high school math in 1983 in Los Angeles where I had a varied teaching experience, from East Los Angeles to Beverly Hills. During my years of teaching I did take some time for other professions: I coached men's and women's rowing at USC and also at UCLA during my 10 years in
Los Angeles. Later, after moving to the Northwest, I also dabbled in real estate and bicycle sales.
I moved to the Northwest in 1989 to pursue my coaching career at the
University of
Puget Sound. In 1990 I started to work in the
IssaquahSchool District in the alternative high school. It was about this time that I met Dr. Coon. We were later married in 1992 and in a few short years we purchased
BroadwayVeterinaryHospital.
Working with my wife in our business together has been a wonderful experience; it has strengthened our marriage and I believe our business. I like to believe that we have built the finest general practice veterinary hospital in the area.
Veterinary Technicians and Assistants
Sarah Doyle (BVH service since 2005)
Hi, my name is Sarah. I'm a graduate of Pima and I have been working in veterinary medicine for seven years. I am the proud mother of Nicholas and Luka. I also have two dogs, Cheyenne and Angelo, and two cats, Blue and Ben.
Nyla Potter (BVH service since 2009) Licensed Veterinary Technician
I am a Washington State Licensed Veterinary Technician. I graduated in 1980 from the Veterinary Technology Program at Ft. Steilacoom (now Pierce College). My passion for animals began at three years of age, with my first memory, riding a pony named "Kimmy". I followed my passion for animal care into a career in veterinary medicine. The art of medicine, blended with the discipline of science, is the heart of my passion for healing. I have been blessed to work with many species in veterinary medicine. I have worked in farm, dairy, horse, companion pets and wildlife veterinary practices over the years. I grew up in 4-H raising and showing Red Stain Rabbits, Collie dogs & Appaloosa horses. I have worked in animal rescue networks, fostering cats and dogs. I studied with William Campbell, author of Better Behavior in Dogs and owner of Behavior Rx, when I adopted a deaf Dalmatian puppy named "Sparky". Learning to communicate with a deaf dog, lead me to complete a course of study in pet behavior consultation. Helping cat & dog owners with behavior concerns became another passion in my career. In 2002, I was bitten by the Miniature Horse bug, raising and showing miniature appaloosas and pintos. In 2005 my miniature mare "Whitney" earned a National Championship in Country Pleasure driving and finished her Hall of Fame title in 2007. My little red dapple Dachshund, "Tulsa" came home with us from the 2005 Miniature Horse Nationals in Tulsa, OK. He is a delightful companion and prefers to shop and pick out his own toys.
I believe pets are one of the greatest gifts we can bring to our lives. They give more than they take and they teach us the simple order of nature. I look forward to meeting you and your pet and helping to keep them healthy, fit and happy!
Amanda Heifner (BVH service since 2008)
Hi, I'm Amanda. I'm new to the area and to working in an animal hospital and I'm loving both. I grew up surrounded by animals; my family had goats, pigs, chickens, and geese as well as a dog and two cats. So working with and caring for animals feels like a natural choice. When I'm not working I enjoy playing with Rocketship, the most adorable kitty ever, hiking, camping, dancing, and making things (clothes, stained glass, ceramics, pretty much anything I can get my hands on).
Tim Cadieux (BVH service since 2000) Since transplanting from the Midwest in 1999, I have had the good fortune to work with Dr. Sandra Coon and Val for the past 9+ years. Dr. Coon has taken great care with my training and integration into the Veterinary Hospital setting and Val has spent an equal amount of time and patience improving my knowledge of computers.
Gardening is one of my passions and the Northwest is the best place to practice.
Anyone passing my home up here on Capital Hill is more than welcome to check out the interesting, different and sometimes exotic garden members we have collected.
You may meet Scooter or Robbie two of my cats that live on the ground floor of the duplex and have the run of the gardens, Robbie has the run of the neighborhood as well.
Tash and SoCho live upstairs with me and are strictly indoors. Their entertainment comes from watching the Budgies that live out in the sun room off of my kitchen and trying to creep up on the various birds at the feeders outside the front windows.
Hannah Bullard (BVH service since 2008)
Hi! My name is Hannah and I've lived in the Seattle area for about a year now. I moved here from Portland and before that, Colorado. I have worked as a Receptionist/Technician at two clinics and enjoy every minute of it. When I'm not working at Broadway Veterinary Hospital, I enjoy going out and camping, hiking, fishing, fourwheeling, and especially out with my husband and our Pittbull-Staffordshire Mix, Capone.
Jennifer Katz (BVH service since 2009)
Good Day! I'm Jenn and I have lived in the Seattle area for going on two years now. I have worked at one other veterinary hospital before this and I honestly never thought you could love what you do for a living until I started working in Veterinary medicine. The thing I like most about it is working with the animals obviously but also the fact that I relate so well to the owners. I understand how concerning it can be to have an ill or injured pet, because when I moved to Seattle my cat Stinky was beaten pretty badly by someone in our neighborhood. Over the last year and a half I have been nursing him back to health and now I can say he is a wonderfully happy and spoiled kitty. I also have three other cats named Pinka, Lily and Oliver and every day when I get home I make sure to give each one of them some love. Working at Broadway Veterinary Hospital has been an amazing experience so far and I hope to continue to learn and excel in the Veterinary medicine field for a long time to come.

PandoraClinic Cat (BVH service since 1997)
Though not legally allowed to own property in
WashingtonState, Pandora is, or at least believes herself to be, the true owner of
BroadwayVeterinaryHospital. She took up residence in 1997 and has become increasingly more efficient at getting people to cater to her every whim. She has faced occasional catastrophes, like the occasional stray kittens that stay longer than she'd like or when we temporarily ran out of C.E.T Chews earlier this year, but she has not let these things dampen her spirits.
Pandora is a fan of the incubator (her "spaceship"), running water, bandanas and bows (which she proudly wears around her neck) and being hand-fed wheat grass. Her hobbies include walking on charts while people are writing in them and convincing people to pick her up and put her on the counter so she doesn't have to jump.
Pandora is a very special kitty and we are all very thankful that she so graciously allows us to practice veterinary medicine in her home.
